For professionals

Architects, contractors
and solicitors.

Party wall is the item most often left until the contractor is booked, and it is the one that cannot be compressed. We would much rather have a five-minute conversation at RIBA Stage 2 than an urgent one the week before a start on site.

How we work with you

Early input, realistic dates.

The two things professionals tell us they want from a party wall surveyor are an honest programme and someone who picks up the telephone. We try to be both.

Free early-stage review

Send us outline drawings and we will tell you what is notifiable, how many adjoining owners are involved, and what it does to your programme. No charge, and no expectation of an instruction.

Programme dates that hold

Two months for section 2, one for sections 1 and 6, plus two to four weeks for an Award where there is a dissent. We would rather give you a date you can build a programme around than an optimistic one.

Section 6 checked properly

The provision most often missed at design stage. We check proposed foundation depths against the neighbouring construction, which is where late surprises come from.

We manage the neighbour

Explaining the process calmly and early is the single biggest determinant of whether a matter runs smoothly. It keeps the relationship off your client's desk and off yours.

Referrals, properly handled

Your client stays yours. We report back on progress, we do not cross-sell other services, and we tell them honestly when they do not need us.

Adjoining owner instructions too

If you are acting for someone on the receiving end of a notice, that is our primary practice area. And their surveying fees are normally met by the building owner.

A note for solicitors

We are frequently instructed where a party wall matter has already gone wrong. No notice served, an inadequate Award, or damage with no schedule of condition. We can provide condition and causation reports, and advise on whether the party wall route or a common law claim is the better course before costs are committed either way.

Send us a scheme and we'll tell you what it needs.

Outline drawings are enough. We will confirm which notices apply, how many neighbours are involved, and what it means for your programme, before anyone commits to a date.

  • A written estimate up front. We do not quote fixed fees off a form
  • Notices drafted and served correctly the first time
  • A named surveyor on your matter from start to finish
