About the practice

A specialist practice,
not a call centre.

Andrew Edward & Co is a founder-led practice. Our founders are both practising party wall surveyors, and the standards they set apply to every case we take on. Our surveyors work across Bristol, Poole and London, every one a member of the FPWS or RICS, or both. You will always know the name of the surveyor looking after you, and every estimate is written for your property, never pulled from a web form.

Our principal is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS). Every surveyor here is a member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) or RICS, or both.

Who you'll be dealing with

Founder-led. Not a call centre.

We started Andrew Edward & Co because we kept meeting people who had been served a notice and had nobody to ask. Andrew Edward & Co is a founder-led practice. Our founders are both practising party wall surveyors, and the standards they set apply to every case we take on. Every surveyor here is a member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors or RICS, or both.

A note from us

We know what that letter feels like.

Most people we help had never heard the words "party wall" until a notice came through the door. It is written in language nobody uses, it has a deadline on it, and it usually arrives at the same time as a skip.

We will tell you plainly whether you need us. If you do not, we will say so and you will not hear from us again. If you do, you will know the name of the surveyor handling your case, and they will see it through to the end.

We do not run a sales team, we do not quote fixed fees off a form, and we do not treat the neighbour as an obstacle. We built the practice around that neighbour.

Why we exist

Most people meet the Act at the worst possible moment.

A letter arrives, it uses words nobody explains, and it has a deadline on it.

We built this practice around that moment. A great deal of party wall work is organised around the person doing the building. Understandably, because they are the one instructing and paying. The neighbour tends to be treated as an obstacle to be processed rather than an owner with rights of their own.

That seemed to us like the wrong way round. The adjoining owner did not ask for any of it, has real risk to manage, and is entitled under section 11 to a surveyor at the building owner's expense. Most of them never find out. So a large part of what we do is act for the person on the receiving end. And the rest is acting for building owners who would rather their neighbour was dealt with properly than quickly.

Founder-led, properly qualified

Our principal is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS). Every surveyor here is a member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) or RICS, or both. You will always know the name of the surveyor on your case.

Independent, by law

Party wall surveyors act impartially under the Act, protecting the process rather than one side. You get straight, balanced advice every time.

A clear estimate up front

We give you a written fee estimate before we start. No surprises, and we never ask for payment by card up front.

Quick, because the deadlines are real

We reply within one working day and serve notices without delay, so nobody's programme slips waiting for us.

Where we work

Bristol, Poole and London. One standard.

Wherever you are, your matter is led by a named surveyor, a member of the FPWS or RICS, or both.

Bristol

Covering Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

From Bristol we cover the Victorian and Georgian terraces of Bristol and Bath, the Regency stock of Cheltenham, and the hillside sites where excavation next door is a structural question rather than a formality.

Poole

Covering Dorset, Devon, Somerset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

From Poole we cover the harbour-side rebuilds of Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs, the converted villas of Bournemouth and Torquay, the Victorian terraces of Southampton and Winchester, and the cob and rubble-stone construction found across inland Dorset, Devon and Somerset.

London

Covering London inside the M25.

From London we cover everything inside the M25: the Victorian and Edwardian terraces where a loft or side return is almost always notifiable, the basement excavations of the inner boroughs, and the converted houses and mansion blocks where one scheme can have a dozen adjoining owners.

Insured and accountable

Our surveyors are members of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) or RICS, or both, each in a personal capacity, and our principal is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS). The practice itself is not regulated by RICS. We carry professional indemnity insurance and operate a formal complaints procedure with escalation to an independent third party. Andrew Edward & Co is a trading name of Party Wall Online Ltd; full company details are in the footer of every page. Our complaints procedure.
